Who to watch

Judea Watkins Class of 2023 (GBL)

A man and woman posing for the camera.

Class of 2023 Judea (Juju) Watkins is the middle school player that is turning everyone’s head. Judea is currently attending Windward school where she maybe next in line to dominate the high school circuit. The GBL guard (pictured with one of her coaches Corey Wright) can jump out the gym, already grabbing the rim.

If Judea is not on your radar you’re behind the curve. She has nice handles and posses a soft touch around the basket. She is long and athletic and uses her size to get to the rim and finish.

Hailee Swain Class of 2025 (Holy Innocents Atl, GA)
A young person holding a trophy in front of a wall.

Hailee is one of the better ball handlers in her class. Every time we have seen her she is mixing it up with the older players. She is a gym rat, she runs the floor and looks to be the general on the floor no matter what age group she is with. Her size may fool you, but once the ball is in her hand her speed takes over. She has nice moves and is a hesitate and go by type of player.

Taryn Johnson Class of 2022 (SD Waves)
A young woman in a purple jersey is holding her arms up.

Taryn is a solid guard who is always on the attack. She has an aggressive mindset and plays from the inside out. She rebounds well and can help get the ball up the court. She is most effective in the open court in transition. She hustles and brings energy, Taryn is a diamond in the rough.

Malia Samon Class of 2023 (Excel Greyhounds)
Two young girls are playing basketball on a court.

She moves well without the ball. She is always looking to score and can create scoring opportunities. We seen her mixing it up with the 16U and showed no fear. She can shoot off the dribble and is a smart player that will attack the basket to get to the line.

Kaylyn Buchanon Class of 2023 (EBO)

A young person is playing basketball on the court.

Kaylyn plays with a lot of heart. Her strength is mostly on defense. She is a solid defender that can make plays offensively as well. She has a nice mid range and will attack the basket at will. She looks to make the pass off the attack, she does a good job at setting her team mates up for an easy basket. She has good court vision and is always looking to make a play.

Bella Class of 2022 (SD Sabers)

A girl is walking on the court with her basketball.

Bella brings size and is learning how to use her size. Her strength is rebounding and put backs. She has a nice form that shows her mid range will be improving if she keeps working on it. She is a back to the basket player and will only get better with time.
